Neurologist Abena Serwaa Bonsu Annor, M.D., M.S., has joined Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute as a neurohospitalist. Dr. Annor will focus on treating hospitalized patients with neurological disorders at Baptist Health Baptist Hospital in Miami.

Dr. Annor is recognized for her commitment to advancing neurology through education and sharing best practices from a global perspective. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Annor to our highly skilled team of medical specialists, dedicated to providing the highest quality care,” said Diego Torres-Russotto, M.D., chair of neurology at Miami Neuroscience Institute.

Dr. Annor completed her master’s degree in medical sciences and earned her medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She went on to complete an internal medicine internship and a neurology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. During her clinical training, she provided educational presentations and bedside teaching for residents, students, faculty, and staff.

Her approach to patient care emphasizes shared decision-making between physician and patient. “By involving patients in their care, I increase my patients’ understanding of treatment options, improve treatment adherence and achieve better health outcomes,” she said.

Dr. Annor speaks both English and Akan (Twi). She will provide care for hospitalized patients at Baptist Health Baptist Hospital located at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Miami.

Baptist Health is described as the largest healthcare organization in its region with 12 hospitals, over 28,000 employees, more than 4,500 physicians, and around 200 outpatient centers across several counties in South Florida. The organization operates multiple specialized institutes including those focused on cancer care, brain and spine care, heart and vascular care, as well as orthopedic services. It also includes a virtual health platform called PineApp and maintains academic affiliations with Florida International University.
