Breast surgical oncologist Anastasia Tousimis, M.D., MBA, has joined Baptist Health Cancer Care in several leadership roles. Dr. Tousimis will serve as deputy director of Baptist Health Cancer Care, chief of breast surgery at Baptist Health Cancer Care, medical director of the Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center, and chief medical liaison of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Alliance.
Dr. Tousimis brings more than two decades of experience as a breast surgeon and has held leadership positions at academic medical institutions. Her most recent role was as director of the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center at Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida.

Dr. Tousimis is involved in clinical research aimed at developing new technologies and techniques in breast oncologic surgery. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and presented her work at national symposiums. She has also received awards for her contributions in clinical practice, teaching, and research.
Her educational background includes a medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She completed her general surgery residency at Guthrie Clinic in Pennsylvania, a breast oncology surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and a surgical oncology fellowship focused on minimally invasive techniques at the European Institute of Oncology in Italy.
Dr. Tousimis noted that working internationally has helped her connect with people from diverse backgrounds: “Having empathy and responding with compassion are my primary patient care skills,” she said. “These skills are necessary for providing personalized care that meets my patients’ needs and goals.”
She will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute located at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Miami.
