More than 170 people attended the An Evening of Gratitude event on January 24 at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada, Florida. The event was organized to benefit Baptist Health Mariners Hospital and was presented by Kathy and Steve Holmes. Nearly $300,000 was raised, with all proceeds going toward the hospital’s needs.
The evening included a cocktail hour, dinner, live auction, and music. Speakers at the event were Joe Natoli, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Baptist Health; Emily Carter, event chair; Bette Brown, chair of the Mariners Hospital Board; Audra Hill, Foundation council chair for Mariners Hospital; and Drew Grossman, CEO of Mariners Hospital and Fishermen’s Community Hospital.
Bette Brown said, “Exceptional, compassionate patient care is so important to all of us. The amazing team at Mariners Hospital work hard to provide the quality of care we all want for our friends, families and community.”
Drew Grossman stated, “At Mariners Hospital, we provide care for our community when it’s needed most, and we are dedicated to excellence in every respect. However, as a not-for-profit organization, we can’t accomplish it without generous support. Community support has been, and is, an essential part of our culture.”

Baptist Health Mariners Hospital has been serving the Florida Keys since 1962 as a critical access hospital with 25 beds offering medical-surgical care as well as intensive care units. The hospital provides services such as orthopedics, cancer care, neurology and advanced imaging with a bilingual staff.
The Baptist Health Foundation works to encourage philanthropy that supports patient care innovation at Baptist Health facilities. Donations help fund new technology purchases for hospitals in addition to supporting research efforts and ongoing education for medical staff.
