Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute will host the 2025 Miami Neuroscience Symposium on November 6-7, 2025, at the Hilton Miami Downtown. The event aims to bring together leaders in neurology, neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and rehabilitation medicine to discuss recent developments in diagnosing and treating neurological disorders.
“This symposium provides a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to engage with thought leaders across the neurosciences,” said Michael W McDermott, M.D., Chief Medical Executive and Irma and Kalman Bass Endowed Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, as well as co-director of the symposium. “We’re focused on delivering practical, evidence-based updates that clinicians can apply immediately in their practice, especially in high-stakes areas like stroke care, neurotrauma, epilepsy, and neurodegeneration.”
The two-day program will include lectures, panel discussions, and case-based learning sessions led by faculty from Miami Neuroscience Institute along with national and international experts. Topics covered will range from best practices for treating stroke and epilepsy to new approaches for movement disorders and pain management.
Dr. Michael W. McDermott will serve as moderator and keynote chair. He is scheduled to present a “Year in Review” on the first day of the event and lead the brain tumors segment on the second day. Other notable participants include Dr. Guilherme Dabus and Dr. Italo Linfante leading discussions on cerebrovascular care; Dr. Ronald B. Tolchin moderating spine/pain/rehabilitation sessions; Dr. Luis Felipe Tornes presenting advances in epilepsy management; and Dr. Diego Torres-Russotto focusing on headaches, neuromuscular disorders, movement disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Invited speakers include Bruce L. Miller from University of California San Francisco; Maria Del Pilar Gennaro from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Miami; Brad A. Racette from Barrow Neurological Institute; and Adriana Grau Chaves from National Institutes of Health.
The symposium is designed for physicians and allied health professionals working in fields such as neurology, emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, surgery, or rehabilitation medicine.
