More than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837 at Boeing’s St. Louis facilities are set to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If the union members reject the modified proposal, a strike is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The latest offer from Boeing includes several changes in response to concerns raised by workers after they overwhelmingly rejected an earlier proposal on July 27. The company has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, meaning current overtime policies will remain in place. Pay enhancements have been added with an annual $0.50 per hour increase for employees at maximum pay rates.
For retirement benefits, the new offer proposes a full $10 pension multiplier increase in the first year for pension-eligible members who retire after January 1, 2026. This replaces an earlier plan that would have split the increase over three years.
Other aspects of Boeing’s offer—including proposed wage increases totaling 20%, a $5,000 ratification bonus, vacation and sick leave provisions, and healthcare benefits—remain unchanged.
The IAM represents about 600,000 active and retired members across North America in industries such as aerospace, defense, airlines, shipbuilding, railroad, transit, healthcare, automotive and others throughout the United States and Canada (https://www.goiam.org/).
