Charlie Jacobs, owner of the Boston Bruins, has purchased a home in Wellington, Florida for $10 million. The property was sold by John Malone, a cable industry billionaire and chairman of Liberty Media, and his wife Leslie Malone.

The transaction was handled by Amy Carr of Engel & Völkers Wellington representing the buyer and Cameron Wentworth Scott of Wellington Equestrian Realty representing the seller. Public records indicate that the purchase was made through CMJ Hurlingham LLC, which is associated with Charlie Jacobs.

John Malone has an estimated net worth of $11.2 billion according to Forbes. He is known for his leadership at Liberty Media and as a major shareholder in Discovery, Inc., playing a role in its merger with WarnerMedia in 2022. Through Liberty Media, Malone also holds interests in Formula 1 and the Atlanta Braves. According to The Land Report, he owns 2.2 million acres of land, making him the second largest landowner in North America.

Leslie Malone is recognized as an equestrian and supporter of the U.S. Olympic Dressage team.

The Malones bought the 7,300-square-foot house at 2982 Hurlingham Drive for $7.8 million in 2013. Built on nearly one acre in 1998, it features seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, one half-bathroom, and a pool. The home is located within Palm Beach Polo & Country Club next to Cypress Preserve.

The property was listed for $16 million last year.

Charlie Jacobs is the son of Jeremy Jacobs, founder of Delaware North—a company that provides food services at venues such as Wembley Stadium and TD Garden. The Jacobs family’s net worth is estimated at $5.4 billion by Forbes. In recent years, Jeremy Jacobs transferred control of both Delaware North and the Boston Bruins to his six children; Charlie Jacobs now serves as CEO for both entities.

Jacobs and his children participate in Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival. He also owns another house in Wellington at 11663 Maidstone Drive, which he bought for $2.8 million in 2021; it was listed for sale this May with Amy Carr as agent.

This sale adds to several high-value real estate transactions recently completed in Wellington. In August, members of the Anheuser-Busch family purchased an equestrian facility for $24.5 million while Thomas Kirk Kristiansen acquired a compound for $25.5 million earlier this year.
