Car dealer Alan Jay Wildstein has purchased a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $26 million, acquiring the property at a significant discount from its original listing price. Public records indicate that Wildstein bought the 10,700-square-foot home located at 2406 Laguna Drive from Matthew and Lorena Roos. The transaction included $20.5 million in seller financing, which brings the purchase price to approximately $1,916 per square foot.
The sellers had listed the property for $36.3 million on November 24, but sold it for $10.3 million less just one day later, according to Zillow. Marc Brandt and Jeffery Kotwica of Douglas Elliman represented the listing, while Melissa Barragan with Dezer Platinum Realty worked with the buyer.
Wildstein leads Alan Jay Automotive Network, a dealership group based in Sebring with operations across Central Florida. His family also owns Tropical Chevrolet in Miami Shores. He is known as an active investor in South Florida luxury real estate; in 2022, he acquired a unit in Gil Dezer’s Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach for $14.4 million and flipped another unit there for $6.5 million within the same year. In 2021, he sold another waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale for $7.5 million.
Seller Matthew Roos owns several businesses registered in Florida: M & L Investment Management, M & L Expeditions, and M & L Aero Sales & Leasing. The Rooses recently bought another waterfront home at 2542 Laguna Drive for $7.6 million this November.
The Rooses originally purchased the 0.3-acre property at 2406 Laguna Drive for $4.9 million in 2018 and completed construction of the five-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion in 2021. The property features a pool and dock.
This transaction is among several high-value deals occurring as Fort Lauderdale’s busy season begins to pick up again after a slower summer period. In August, retired racing driver Michael Andretti bought a 17,800-square-foot waterfront estate from Patrick K. Willis for $27.4 million. Last year saw financier Donald Sussman sell his Fort Lauderdale compound for $70 million—a record-setting price for single-family homes in Broward County.
