Cardiologist Sheng Fu joins Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute

Board-certified cardiologist Sheng Fu, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at the Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. Dr. Fu specializes in advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, transplant cardiology, and mechanical circulatory support. He holds certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and advanced heart failure and transplantation.

Before coming to Baptist Health, Dr. Fu worked as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Louisville. He also served as medical director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Jewish Hospital and associate medical director for the Department of Heart Transplantation at Jewish Hospital – University of Louisville.

Katzen Endowed Chair at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, who is also a professor and chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Dr. Fu completed his medical degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine after earning a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. He trained in internal medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University and later completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease (Allegheny General Hospital) and advanced heart failure/transplantation (Medical University of South Carolina).

He has published research on heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support topics. Emphasizing patient-centered care, Dr. Fu said: “This collaborative approach leads to better outcomes because informed and empowered patients are more likely to understand treatment plans and manage their health proactively.”

Dr. Fu speaks both English and Mandarin Chinese. He will see patients at two locations on the main campus: 8950 North Kendall Dr., Suites 507W and 600W.
