The U.S. Census Bureau has announced new data-sharing agreements with Brigham Young University-Idaho and the University of North Carolina System for its Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) experimental data product. This initiative aims to provide detailed information on the earnings and employment outcomes of college graduates, broken down by degree level, major, institution, and state.
With these additions, 17 more post-secondary institutions are now included in the PSEO dataset. The update expands coverage to a total of 952 institutions and represents about 35% of all college graduates nationwide.
According to the Census Bureau, “The PSEO provides earnings and employment outcomes for college and university graduates by degree level, degree major, post-secondary institution, and state of institution, and is used by parents, students, institutions, and workforce agencies to learn about the labor force outcomes of graduates.”
The PSEO relies on collaborations between universities, state education departments, labor market information offices, and the Census Bureau itself. Users can access this data through the PSEO Explorer tool as well as raw files and an API provided by the agency.
