Compass, a New York-based real estate brokerage led by CEO Robert Reffkin, has expanded into Florida’s Treasure Coast by adding the New Wave Group, a 15-agent team based in Stuart. The New Wave Group is Compass’ first team in the Treasure Coast region and specializes in luxury residential properties across Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.
According to Compass, the New Wave Group has closed more than $500 million in sales. Team members include Catherine Hudzina, Dana Netska, Ellen Pentland, Gayle Sokoloff, Genece Singer, Jake Newman, Jennifer Heins, Judy Cialone, Laura Trombetta, Mike Davis, Nina Blum, Susan Freytes, Susan Slutsky and Will Gluckman.
The move comes as brokerages seek to expand their presence in Florida following an influx of new residents since the pandemic and a resulting boom in the state’s real estate market. In 2024, for example, the Keyes Company acquired a 24-agent brokerage in Fort Pierce on the Treasure Coast.
Compass is one of the largest real estate brokerages in the U.S., with over 33,000 agents nationwide. The company has been investing heavily in mergers and acquisitions to grow its footprint. Its recent activity in Florida includes bringing on a 20-agent team in the Panhandle’s 30A region in 2022 (as reported by RealTrends), opening a Downtown Naples office for 300 agents and staff earlier this year, and welcoming the 40-agent Korman Group to its Boca Raton office this July.
Compass is also involved in legal action related to industry practices. The firm is suing listing site Zillow regarding private listings policies and announced it would no longer follow the National Association of Realtor’s Clear Cooperation Policy as of July.
