Delia Constanza Guaqueta, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute as a breast hematologist oncologist. Dr. Guaqueta will focus on treating breast cancer patients at all stages, from diagnosis through remission. She is certified in internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Guaqueta previously worked at Memorial Cancer Institute, part of Memorial Healthcare System, where she was the medical director of Breast Cancer Research and participated in several leadership committees.

Dr. Guaqueta conducts clinical research on new therapies for cancer patients. Her work includes studying targeted treatments based on cancer genomic expression and efforts to increase diversity in clinical trials. She has published her findings in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. She is also active in professional organizations related to her field.
Her education includes a medical degree from Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia and two research fellowships at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine—one at the Center for Liver Disease and another at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Tufts University School of Medicine, Steward Carney Hospital in Boston, followed by a hematology oncology fellowship at Boston University, Boston Medical Center. Additional training includes clinical development strategies from Harvard Medical School and clinical cancer genomics from City of Hope Division of Clinical Cancer Genomics in Duarte, California.
Dr. Guaqueta works closely with patients and their families to review treatment options that include both standard care recommendations and potential clinical trials. “I offer patients and families compassion, acceptance and respect as we work together to establish the goals of therapy and accomplish those goals,” she said.
She speaks English and Spanish fluently and will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute’s main campus located at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Miami.
