Duke Energy Florida has introduced a new opportunity for income-qualified customers to save on their energy bills through the Clean Energy Connection program. The initiative is open to those currently enrolled in programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-EBT), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), or the Duke Energy Neighborhood Energy Saver.
The Clean Energy Connection program allows eligible participants to subscribe monthly and receive credits that reduce their energy costs. Duke Energy Florida operates 10 solar sites across the state, generating a combined 749 megawatts of carbon-free electricity at peak output—enough to power about 230,000 homes.
Customers who join the program pay a fixed fee of $8.35 per kilowatt-hour each month and receive a credit of $9.03 per kilowatt-hour per month. This structure ensures immediate savings from the first month of enrollment, with continued benefits as long as subscribers remain in the program.
“Through Duke Energy Florida’s Clean Energy Connection program, income-qualified customers can receive guaranteed savings, while also supporting solar energy – without any of the traditional equipment or costs,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “There’s no risk, and the reward is instant, which is why we encourage all eligible customers to consider enrolling today.”
Both homeowners and renters are eligible for this offer. There are no upfront costs or enrollment fees required, and no equipment needs to be installed or maintained by participants. Customers can cancel anytime after their first month’s subscription without penalty and may remain subscribed if they move within an area serviced by Duke Energy Florida.
Duke Energy Florida serves approximately 2 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers over a 13,000-square-mile area in Florida and owns 12,300 megawatts of energy capacity.
Its parent company, Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK), is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. It serves 8.4 million electric utility customers across six states and operates natural gas utilities for 1.7 million customers in five states. The company continues to invest in grid upgrades and cleaner generation sources as part of its broader transition toward sustainable energy solutions.
