Duke Energy Ohio & Kentucky, in collaboration with its employees, customers, and local partners, has provided more than $860,000 in energy assistance to community agencies this year. The funds have been distributed through the Share the Light Fund to help families maintain power and heating during the winter season.
The company works with organizations such as the Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission to support residents facing financial challenges. Over one-third of this year’s funding came from the Duke Energy Foundation, which included an additional $100,000 earlier in the year for families dealing with extreme heat.
Last year, Duke Energy and its foundation contributed over $2.6 million to nonprofits within their Ohio and Kentucky service areas. Employees also supported nonprofits by donating more than $650,000 through volunteer hours and direct contributions.
Kim Vogelgesang, manager at Duke Energy Foundation, said: “Behind every request for help is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”
Customers seeking assistance can use the Payment Assistance Finder on Duke Energy’s website. Those wishing to contribute can set up recurring or one-time donations to the Share the Light Fund.
