Duke Energy has selected six sites in Florida for its 2025 Site Readiness Program, which aims to prepare business and industrial properties for future economic development. The program is designed to make these locations more attractive to companies seeking to expand or relocate operations.
Since its launch in 2013, the Site Readiness Program has evaluated 60 sites across the state. According to Duke Energy, ten companies have chosen locations that participated in the program, resulting in $493 million in capital investment and the creation of 1,950 jobs in Florida. One notable project involved Amazon establishing a facility in Highlands County, generating 60 new jobs and $25 million in local investment.
The process involves consultants, designers, and engineers from firms such as Zev Cohen & Associates, Kolb Design Group, Vision First Advisors, Strategic Development Group, and Site Selection Group. These experts work with various economic development organizations and government agencies to assess and improve site competitiveness.
Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said: “The Site Readiness program is one example of the proactive economic development initiatives that Duke Energy pursues to help spark investment in the communities we serve. Through this program, we’re able to connect high-potential sites with companies that infuse capital and jobs into local communities for years to come.”

The selected properties for 2025 are located in Seminole County (Winnin LLLP Property), Taylor County (City of Perry Property), Levy County (Sherrill Property), Lake County (Lake County Industrial Park), Osceola County (Bar 7 Ranch), and Polk County (Fort Meade Industrial Site).
