Florida State Parks will hold First Day Hikes on January 1, 2026, encouraging residents and visitors to start the new year outdoors. The event features both guided hikes led by park rangers and self-guided trails across a range of landscapes including beaches, forests, springs, and wetlands. Trail options are available for all skill levels.
Participants in the First Day Hikes will receive a commemorative sticker while supplies last. Chuck Hatcher, Director of Florida State Parks, said: “Florida’s state parks offer something for everyone, and First Day Hikes are a perfect introduction. You can meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts on guided hikes or find your own path on self-guided trails. Starting the year here is a simple way to connect with nature and create lasting memories.”
Trail maps are accessible at ranger stations or online to help visitors plan their hike individually or with others.
Florida has 175 state parks and more than 3,000 miles of multi-use trails that remain open throughout the year for recreational activities. Annual passes for individuals and families are available, providing unlimited access to parks as well as discounts for veterans and foster families.
