Florida has set a new record for its high school graduation rate, reaching 92.2% for the 2024-25 academic year. The announcement was made by Governor Ron DeSantis during the State of the State address. This figure represents an increase of 2.5 percentage points from the previous year and a total rise of 4.9 percentage points since the 2021-22 school year.
Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas commented on the achievement, stating, “Florida’s historic graduation rate reflects the power of Governor DeSantis’ strong leadership, clear expectations, and unwavering commitment to student success. These achievements demonstrate what can be accomplished when we uphold rigorous standards, provide robust support to schools and prepare every student for success beyond graduation.”
The state attributes this progress to a focus on high standards in education, accountability measures, parental rights, and expanded educational options for families across Florida. Officials emphasize that these efforts are part of a broader commitment to preparing students not only for postsecondary education but also for careers and life after graduation.
