Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $40 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP). The funding aims to expand workforce education programs in Florida, particularly those focused on industries with high demand for skilled workers.
According to the department, this investment will strengthen 49 programs throughout the state and is expected to increase workforce capacity for these programs by 59 percent. Since Workforce CAP began in 2023, total state investment in workforce education initiatives under this program has reached $240 million.
“Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success,” said Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas. “This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
The grant funds support both new and existing career and technical education programs at high school and postsecondary levels. These initiatives provide hands-on training designed to help students earn industry-recognized certifications relevant to emerging sectors.
Institutions receiving grants were not detailed in the announcement. However, officials stated that recipients will use funds to ensure broader student access to necessary tools, resources, and training as Florida’s economy continues to grow.
Further information about the grant program and its application process can be found on the CAP Grant page of the Florida Department of Education website.
