The university held its Panthers’ F1RST NIGHT celebration, where President Jeanette M. Nuñez officially welcomed thousands of students and their families. Additional activities included a Coca Cola-sponsored block party and the opening of the Innovation Complex, which features new classrooms and science laboratories.

The week also featured the first home football game of the season, where FIU defeated Bethune-Cookman with a score of 42-9.

“You can’t get this time back, Panthers, so enjoy every minute,” said university officials in a message to students.
