The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has approved updated charges for the Cast Iron/Bare Steel Replacement Rider (CI/BSR Rider) of Peoples Gas System, Inc. (PGS), which will take effect in January 2026. The CI/BSR Rider is a surcharge that funds the replacement of aging cast iron, bare steel, and problematic plastic pipes in Florida’s natural gas distribution network.

As part of its decision, the FPSC finalized its review of PGS’s actual and projected true-ups for 2024 and 2025. These adjustments have been approved and are factored into the calculation of the new charges for 2026.

Residential customers will see a CI/BSR monthly surcharge set at $0.01593 per therm starting in January 2026. For a typical residential customer using 20 therms per month, this means an increase of about 32 cents on their monthly bill.

PGS plans to invest around $62.1 million in system modernization during 2026, with an approved revenue requirement of $2.9 million after accounting for previous years’ true-ups.

Peoples Gas System serves more than 400,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers across 14 service areas in Florida.
