The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has completed a nine-day hearing regarding Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request to adjust its rates and a proposed settlement agreement. The hearing included expert testimony, cross-examination, and analysis of FPL’s original rate filing as well as the settlement proposal.
The process was divided into two phases. Intervenors were able to question witnesses about both FPL’s initial petition and the terms of the settlement agreement. The proposed settlement was reached between FPL and several organizations such as The Florida Industrial Power Users Group, Florida Retail Federation, Florida Energy for Innovation Association, Walmart Inc., EVgo Services, Americans for Affordable Clean Energy, Circle K, RaceTrac, Wawa, Electrify America, Federal Executive Agencies, Armstrong World Industries, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
Parties involved in the case will be allowed to submit post-hearing briefs, which will serve as their closing arguments based on all evidence presented.
A Special Commission Conference is scheduled for November 20, 2025, where the FPSC will review the proposed settlement agreement using the evidence collected during the hearing.
