Florida’s lineworkers are being recognized on August 26, 2025, as part of Florida Lineworker Appreciation Day. The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is highlighting the essential role these workers play in maintaining and restoring electric service across the state.
“As Florida continues to strengthen its energy grid and storm readiness, we must remember that lineworkers are the frontline heroes keeping power safe and reliable,” said FPSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. “We are grateful every day for the men and women who risk their lives to ensure Floridians have the essential service of electricity.”
Lineworkers in Florida undergo extensive training to operate safely in hazardous environments such as severe storms and high winds. Their responsibilities often require them to travel beyond state lines to assist with power restoration efforts after major disasters. Across the United States, lineworkers maintain more than 5.5 million miles of distribution lines supplying electricity to residential and commercial customers.
The designation of August 26 as Lineworker Appreciation Day was established by the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 to recognize those who risk their safety daily to provide reliable electric service throughout the state.
