Ovation Home Insurance Exchange has highlighted the benefits of its reciprocal insurance model for homeowners in Florida.

According to a LinkedIn post by Ovation, traditional homeowners insurance is inadequate for addressing Florida’s flood risk. The company directed users to its blog for further information, noting that the insurance market faces challenges such as rising premiums and major carriers withdrawing due to regulatory and risk pressures. Ovation claims that its reciprocal model aligns policyholders’ interests, operates more efficiently, and offers a sustainable, lower-cost solution where legacy insurers have not met consumer needs.

Florida Risk Partners reported that Florida’s homeowners’ insurance market has experienced turmoil over recent years, with rates soaring and major insurers exiting the state. Currently, Florida homeowners pay the highest insurance rates in the United States, with an average premium of approximately $8,770 per year in 2024—more than three times the national average. This financial strain has led several companies into insolvency, while others like Farmers and Progressive have reduced or ceased writing new policies in Florida.

The Consumer Federation of America indicated that American homeowners have seen a 24% increase in premiums over the past three years, affecting 95% of U.S. ZIP codes. In one-third of these areas, premiums rose by more than 30%, driven by climate-related events and other market pressures.

Ovation Home Insurance Exchange was launched in 2024 by Windward Risk Managers as a member-owned reciprocal insurer serving Florida homeowners. It provides flexible coverage options aimed at aligning member interests for stable costs and comprehensive protection, including add-ons like flood and identity theft coverage. The company is managed by industry experts from Florida Peninsula Insurance Company and Edison Insurance Company.
