Florida’s tourism industry contributed $133.6 billion to the state’s economy in 2024, according to VISIT FLORIDA’s latest Economic Impact of Tourism study. The report highlights that out-of-state visitors spent $134.9 billion last year, marking a 3% increase from 2023. Of this total, American tourists accounted for $120.1 billion and international visitors contributed $14.8 billion.

The economic activity generated by tourism supported 1.8 million jobs in Florida and produced $79.9 billion in wages during 2024. The sector also generated $33.6 billion in federal, state, and local taxes.

Governor Ron DeSantis commented on the findings: “Our tourism industry is critical to Florida’s strong economic position. Florida remains the top destination for travelers from across the country and the world because we prioritize freedom and safety. Tourism fuels jobs and keeps Florida’s economy strong.”

Bryan Griffin, President and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA, added: “Tourism drives Florida’s economy. This new data from VISIT FLORIDA’s economic impact study demonstrates the value of Florida’s investment in tourism and tourism marketing. Florida’s 9.1 million households are saving nearly $2,000 a year because of the tax revenues generated by Florida tourism. VISIT FLORIDA will continue to responsibly steward this valuable investment for Florida’s residents.”

The report notes that visitor spending by out-of-state travelers increased by 3% in 2024, reaching $134.9 billion, while tourism accounted for 7.8% of Florida’s Nominal Gross State Product (GSP). For every dollar spent by a visitor, 99 cents remained within the state economy—an increase from 97 cents retained in 2023—with 59 cents supporting worker salaries.

Taxes generated by travel and tourism grew by 3.3% in 2024 to reach $33.6 billion. Without these contributions, each household would have paid an additional $1,730 annually in state and local taxes to maintain current revenue levels.

Tourism-supported employment rose by 1.8%, totaling 1.8 million jobs statewide, while wages related to tourism reached $79.9 billion—a year-over-year growth of 4.6%. The number of visitors also set a record at 143 million for the year.
