The IAM Local 2198 Young Workers Committee organized its first Dora Cervantes Bowling Fundraiser to support Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines (GDA/TLC). The event brought together union members, their families, and community supporters.

The fundraiser was held in honor of IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes, recognizing her ongoing dedication to GDA/TLC and her efforts to inspire future union leaders. “It’s deeply moving to see young members take the initiative to give back in such a meaningful way,” said Cervantes. “This charity has always represented compassion and purpose, and our IAM family continues to make sure that mission thrives.”

All money raised from the event will go directly to GDA/TLC. The organization provides service dogs at no cost for veterans, people who are blind or visually impaired, and children with autism.

IAM Women’s and Young Workers Director Julie Frietchen commented on the involvement of younger union members: “Our young workers are showing what the future of this union looks like: strong, compassionate, and community-minded,” said Frietchen. “They’re carrying forward the IAM’s legacy of service and solidarity while creating their own path of leadership.”

Organizers plan for the bowling fundraiser to become an annual event aimed at increasing awareness and support for GDA/TLC.
