Josh Hartford, Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Union Rail Division, spoke at the IAM New Mexico State Council meeting to update delegates on recent developments in the rail industry. He discussed current issues affecting rail workers, such as contract negotiations, workforce safety, and federal policy initiatives focused on protecting union jobs.
Hartford highlighted the involvement of IAM Local 331, which participated in the council for the first time. He emphasized the importance of their engagement and solidarity with other delegates from across New Mexico.
“The IAM Rail Division continues to give members a strong voice in the rail industry here in New Mexico,” said Hartford. “We’re fighting every day to make sure our members are being seen and rewarded for the critical work they do throughout the state.”
He also noted that collaboration between the Rail Division and state councils is vital for advancing workers’ rights. The participation of IAM Local 331 was commended as an example of growing unity within the organization.
