Judy and Artie Canter have made a second significant donation to the Keeping the Promise campaign at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, which is part of Baptist Health South Florida. Their latest contribution will name the future elevator lobby on the 7th floor for orthopedics in the new Gloria Drummond Patient Tower.

Lincoln Mendez, north region executive of Baptist Health and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital, said, “We are deeply grateful to donors like Judy and Artie, whose steadfast support continues to strengthen our hospital and its mission. The Canters’ remarkable gift is a true testament to their commitment to advancing healthcare in our community. Their leadership and generosity inspire others to join in shaping what’s ahead.”

The Canters began supporting Boca Raton Regional Hospital in 2018 after attending an annual fundraising event. Their first major donation supported the construction of the Proton Therapy Center at Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, which is scheduled to open in early 2026. That gift also honored physicians Michael Kasper, M.D., and David Taub, M.D.

With their cumulative giving now exceeding $1 million, Judy and Artie Canter have been recognized as Eminent Philanthropists by the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.

Artie Canter commented on their involvement: “Boca Raton Regional Hospital is a not-for-profit institution that depends on the support of local and regional residents. We all want state-of-the-art healthcare in our own backyard, and thanks to the generosity of those with the capacity and commitment to give, our hospital has not only kept pace but also grown. Judy and I are so pleased that we have been able to ‘give back’ – both to Boca Regional and our community.”

The Keeping the Promise campaign has raised more than $290 million so far for campus redevelopment projects totaling over $1 billion in capital investments. These include new patient towers with private rooms meeting updated safety standards, renovations across maternity, oncology, and orthopedic units, expansion of Marcus Neuroscience Institute focused on neurological care such as stroke treatment, a large parking facility connected to medical buildings, as well as new outpatient centers.

Mark Larkin, president of Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation said: “Raising more than $290 million through the Keeping the Promise campaign is an extraordinary milestone, yet our work doesn’t end there. We are profoundly grateful to our donors who share our vision for the future and understand that philanthropy is the foundation of lasting progress. Judy and Artie exemplify this commitment, and we extend our sincere appreciation for their generosity and belief in what lies ahead for Boca Raton Regional Hospital.”

Baptist Health South Florida operates 12 hospitals with more than 28,000 employees across several counties including Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. It includes internationally recognized institutes specializing in cancer care as well as brain/spine care among other specialties.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital relies on philanthropic support for its mission focused on high-quality patient care.
