Mayors in several cities across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee have declared December 12, 2025, as “Share the Warmth Day.” The proclamation aims to raise awareness and encourage support for Piedmont Natural Gas’s Share the Warmth program, which provides emergency assistance for residents struggling to pay their energy bills.
The mayors of Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Wilmington (N.C.), Greenville (S.C.), and Nashville (Tenn.) are participating in this initiative. The Share the Warmth program offers year-round financial help to those who need assistance with energy costs, regardless of whether they use propane, electricity, or natural gas.
Brian Weisker, senior vice president and president of Piedmont Natural Gas, stated: “Piedmont’s Share the Warmth program has supported our most vulnerable neighbors since 2003. We chose December 12, or 12/12, as ‘Share the Warmth Day’ to remind us that for no more than $12 a year, each of us can make a meaningful difference. And if you need help today, Share the Warmth funds are available. Too many families face difficult choices when the weather turns cold. We want anyone who needs assistance with their energy bills to know: Piedmont is here to keep you warm and supported, all year long.”
Customers can contribute by enrolling in Piedmont’s Round Up program; this rounds up monthly natural gas bills to the nearest dollar with all extra funds going directly to Share the Warmth. Community donations and direct contributions from Piedmont also support the fund. All money collected stays within local communities and is distributed through nonprofit partners.
Enrollment options include texting SHARE to 21209, visiting piedmontng.com/ShareTheWarmth, filling out a form on their bill statement, or calling Piedmont at 800.752.7504. Non-customers can also visit piedmontng.com/ShareTheWarmth for information on how to donate.
Piedmont Natural Gas serves over 1.2 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee as part of Duke Energy’s operations.
