A historic mansion in Palm Beach, known as Casa del Ensuenos, has been listed for sale at $175 million following a significant renovation. The property, located at 800 South County Road, is a 1.5-acre estate on the Intracoastal Waterway with 200 feet of waterfront and sits just north of Mar-a-Lago.
The estate was originally designed in 1923 by Addison Mizner, a prominent architect associated with Palm Beach’s Mediterranean Revival style. Casa del Ensuenos is one of only two Venetian-style mansions Mizner built in the area and was designated a landmark by the town in 1980.
Businesswoman Ann DesRuisseaux purchased the property for $24 million in 2020. She initiated an extensive restoration and elevation project after repeated flooding from the nearby Lake Worth Lagoon caused saltwater to inundate the first floor during high tides and storms. The home previously relied on a complex pumping system to manage water intrusion.
The cost of the renovation has not been disclosed but is described as being in the millions. Approval for the project required several Town Council hearings due to its scale and complexity. The effort has become notable as an example of how luxury properties in Palm Beach are addressing rising sea levels.
The estate offers 27,000 square feet of living space, including 21,500 square feet that are air-conditioned. It features 15 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, five half-bathrooms, a half-round stair tower, lakefront balconies, cast-stone detailing, and a courtyard archway that once served as a yacht entrance.
Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties holds the listing. She told the outlet: “one-of-one” and “one of the most iconic renovations in Palm Beach history.”
Casa del Ensuenos joins other high-priced listings in Florida’s luxury real estate market. Last month, another Palm Beach oceanfront estate was listed at $205 million. In April last year, a Naples waterfront property sold for $225 million—a record residential sale for both Florida and the United States.
