Piedmont Natural Gas is urging customers in the Southeast to prepare for colder-than-normal temperatures expected next week by taking advantage of its energy-saving programs and tools. The company has outlined several ways customers can manage their natural gas usage and potentially lower their bills during the winter season.
Customers are encouraged to use Piedmont’s online account services to track monthly gas usage, helping them identify trends and opportunities for savings. The Energy Advisor tool provides personalized assessments of home energy efficiency, while online calculators estimate annual costs for water heating, cooking, and clothes drying.
The company also offers practical tips to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing comfort. These include setting thermostats to the lowest comfortable temperature, using smart or programmable thermostats, utilizing sunlight during the day, regularly changing air filters, managing water heater settings, sealing cracks and openings in the home, ensuring air ducts are properly sealed, and adding insulation where needed.
For those looking to avoid fluctuations in their monthly bills, Piedmont’s Equal Payment Plan (EPP) allows customers to pay a consistent amount each month based on their average annual usage. More information about this program is available on Piedmont’s website.
Financial assistance is also available through programs such as Share the Warmth—which supports families with utility bill payments regardless of energy source—and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Details about these and other aid options can be found at piedmontng.com/AssistancePrograms.
“Piedmont says anyone in need can apply for this and other newly available programs to see if they qualify. For more information, go to piedmontng.com/AssistancePrograms. For detailed federal and state-specific information, go to piedmontng.com/WinterBills and click on your state.”
