ProHealth Urgent Care, an affiliate of Baptist Health International located in St. Croix, has become the first urgent care facility in the U.S. Virgin Islands to earn Joint Commission Accreditation for Ambulatory Health Care. This accreditation is recognized as a national symbol of excellence and reflects a commitment to meeting rigorous healthcare standards.
The Joint Commission, established in 1951, is known as the largest and oldest accrediting body in healthcare across the United States. Its evaluation process examines compliance with strict standards concerning patient care, infection prevention and control, medication management, and organizational leadership.
“We congratulate the entire ProHealth team on achieving Joint Commission Accreditation, an extraordinary milestone that reflects their dedication to providing the highest standard of care to the St. Croix community,” said Rogelio E. Ribas, M.D., corporate vice president of Baptist Health International. “This accomplishment highlights the strength of our collaboration and the leadership of ProHealth in advancing urgent care services in the Caribbean.”
“Achieving Joint Commission Accreditation reinforces our mission to deliver safe, high-quality and compassionate care to every patient we serve,” said Stuart Lewis, CEO and Owner of ProHealth Urgent Care. “This recognition validates the hard work of our providers and staff and assures our community that they can trust ProHealth Urgent Care for reliable, accredited services.”
Since opening in 2020, ProHealth has offered walk-in urgent and primary care along with diagnostic testing, occupational health services, physical exams, preventive care, rehabilitation services, laboratory work, pharmacy support, imaging capabilities and consultation for non-life-threatening conditions requiring same-day treatment. The facility also provides a Hybrid Concierge Medicine Program that offers patients direct communication with physicians as well as same-day or next-day appointments.
Baptist Health International supports more than 14,000 international patient visits each year at its facilities throughout South Florida (https://baptisthealth.net/international-services). It delivers a range of medical services for international patients including hospital admissions and second opinions from physicians.
Baptist Health South Florida operates 12 hospitals with over 28,000 employees across Miami-Dade County through Palm Beach County (BaptistHealth.net/Newsroom). The organization manages numerous outpatient centers as well as urgent care sites within this region.
By obtaining accreditation from The Joint Commission (www.jointcommission.org), ProHealth joins a group of healthcare organizations dedicated to ongoing improvement and quality patient care.
