Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets has listed his waterfront home in Sea Ranch Lakes, near Fort Lauderdale, for $9.8 million. The listing comes just two years after Busquets and his wife, Elena Galera, purchased the property for about $8.7 million in 2023, setting a record at the time for the gated community located approximately five miles from Inter Miami’s stadium.

Busquets is set to retire from Major League Soccer at the end of this year. According to ESPN, he plans to take a break before considering a move into coaching. “I think in the future, yes [I’d want to be a coach], but for now I’d rather take a sabbatical,” Busquets told reporters. “It’s a long time, with hardly any weekends. … You want to enjoy time with your family, time for me, for them, seeing my children, being with them, traveling more, watching football from a different perspective.”

The seven-bedroom house spans 7,100 square feet and was built in 2023 on a 0.3-acre lot that offers about 100 feet of frontage on Lake Seneca and includes a three-car garage. Veroushka Volkert of One Sotheby’s International Realty holds the current listing and also represented Busquets when he bought the home.

Before joining Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi last year, Busquets spent over a decade playing for FC Barcelona.

Messi resides nearby; in 2023 he and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo paid $10.8 million for an eight-bedroom estate in Fort Lauderdale’s Bay Colony neighborhood and own luxury condominiums in Sunny Isles Beach.

Inter Miami is advancing work on its new stadium development near Miami International Airport—a $1 billion mixed-use project backed by Ares Management—and secured $450 million in financing from JPMorgan Chase earlier this year.
