Spec developer Michael Klinger and his wife Michelle have sold their Golden Beach home for $27.1 million, setting a new price record for bayfront properties in the area. The house, located at 194 South Island Drive, was purchased by a Delaware entity, according to a spokesperson. The deed has not yet been recorded publicly, so the identity of the buyer remains unknown.

The property was listed by Dina Goldentayer with Douglas Elliman and Joel Lusky with Brokerage South Florida Real Estate. Jonathan Mann of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty represented the buyer.

Michael Klinger is the founder of Saber Real Estate South, which has recently increased its activity in Golden Beach’s spec development market. In November, Klinger sold another renovated property at 220 South Island Drive for $13 million after acquiring it for $9.3 million a year earlier.

Saber also acquired a waterfront parcel at 476 North Parkway last year for $3.9 million with plans to construct a 6,000-square-foot spec home on the site. Additionally, Klinger is planning a 10,000-square-foot mansion at 56 Bal Bay that is currently listed for $45 million with Goldentayer and Lusky.

The Klingers bought the 0.3-acre property at 194 South Island Drive in 2021 for $6.3 million. They completed construction of the 7,600-square-foot residence last year. The home features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a theater room, wellness facilities, staff quarters, a pool and a dock.

The house first went on the market in April with an asking price of $35 million before being reduced to $30 million in June; it went under contract in December.

Golden Beach is known as one of Miami-Dade’s few neighborhoods with oceanfront single-family homes. The most expensive sale recorded in Golden Beach occurred in 2022 when a property spanning 1.7 acres along the Atlantic Ocean sold for $45 million.

Klinger’s recent transaction sets a record for non-oceanfront sales within Golden Beach. Other notable deals include an oceanfront home sold by Johnny Grobman—who is serving an 18-year prison sentence—for $16.6 million in October and another property sold by a Miami cosmetic surgery center owner for $22 million earlier this year.
