General surgeon Subhadeep Paul, M.D., has joined Baptist Health General Surgery, bringing expertise in robotic and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Paul’s practice will focus on a range of conditions affecting the digestive tract, including the stomach, lower esophagus, gallbladder, various types of hernias, small and large intestines. He also performs upper endoscopy and colonoscopy for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal conditions such as diverticulitis, colon polyps, and colon cancer.
Beyond gastrointestinal surgery, Dr. Paul treats both benign and malignant breast conditions—including breast cancer—as well as skin and soft tissue lesions or cancers, pilonidal disease, benign anorectal issues, and thyroid and parathyroid diseases.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Paul to our highly skilled team of medical professionals, dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients,” said Jack Ziffer, Ph.D., M.D., executive vice president, chief clinical officer and chief physician executive at Baptist Health.
Dr. Paul received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas with distinction in research. He completed his general surgery residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport—a high-volume trauma center—and gained additional experience across several private hospital systems. His training covered a wide spectrum of surgical subspecialties such as vascular, cardiothoracic, trauma/surgical critical care, minimally invasive/robotic foregut surgery, bariatrics/weight loss surgery, burn care, plastics, endocrine surgery, transplant surgery, breast surgery, colorectal surgery and pediatric surgery.
During his residency training he served as administrative chief resident and mentored junior residents and medical students while conducting research published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at national symposiums and conferences and is a recipient of multiple awards for academic and clinical work. Dr. Paul is also a member of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Paul emphasizes patient-centered care throughout the surgical process: “I take time to understand the medical concerns of my patients as well as their personal goals, support systems and apprehensions,” he said. “I collaborate with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans that prioritize both physical healing and emotional well-being.”
He is fluent in English and Bengali. Dr. Paul will see patients at Baptist Health General Surgery locations in Homestead (975 Baptist Way), Tavernier (91500 Overseas Hwy), and Marathon (3303 Overseas Highway).
