The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated Business Formation Statistics (BFS) covering September, October, and November 2025. The BFS deliver monthly data on new business applications and formations across the United States and Puerto Rico.

These statistics are a regular product of the Census Bureau, created in partnership with economists from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the University of Maryland, and the University of Notre Dame. The dataset includes 12 series—four tracking business applications and eight tracking business formations—at national, regional, and state levels. For Puerto Rico, four monthly business application series are included as part of the standard release.

The BFS provide both seasonally adjusted and unadjusted data to give a comprehensive view of trends in business creation.

There was no formal news release associated with this update; only a tip sheet was provided.
