The Winpisinger Center will launch an Online Steward Training program starting October 1, aiming to make union education more accessible for members who are unable to attend in-person sessions. The initiative builds on the center’s previous experience with online training formats.
“This initiative is another step forward in expanding our members’ access to quality union education, no matter where they live or work,” said Winpisinger Center Director Mary McHugh.
The training is open to all stewards who are members in good standing. It will be conducted over three consecutive weeks, with each week featuring a two-hour session covering two main topics. To accommodate varying schedules, sessions will be offered three times per week: Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Saturday late mornings.
The first week focuses on the role of the steward and their rights and responsibilities. The second week addresses grievances and investigations. The third week covers just cause and discipline cases as well as contract cases and past practice.
Members interested in participating can self-register for the program at https://winpisinger.center/training-registration. Additional questions can be submitted through a contact form available at https://winpisinger.center/contact-us.
